Askham Bog is a SSSI supporting important fen, woodland and wetland habitats, which provide homes for diverse plant and animal communities, The project is to upgrade access provision for the general public and also the removal of invading scrub and ditch restoration.

Askham Bog is a SSSI supporting important fen, woodland and wetland habitats, which provide homes for diverse plant and animal communities. The project will help maintain these habitats by removing invading scrub and restoring ditches, whilst at the same time improving the enjoyment of the reserve by visitors through upgrading of access provision, in particular for less able and wheelchair users. In addition a small stock handling facility will be introduced to enable cattle to graze part of the reserve.
