Skipton Woods Historic Bridge

Skipton Woods is an ancient semi-natural woodland, meaning the area has been wooded since at least 1600 AD and it represents one of the UK’s richest habitats for wildlife.  The Woodland Trust was awarded £30,000 for the design and installation of a new bridge across Eller Beck encouraging people to explore further using the western side of the wood, creating a circular walk.  The project has reinstated an historic bridge that was present in the wood until c 1910, when it was lost due to flooding.  The project complements the wider plan of improvements, events and activities at the wood, including improved access, interpretation and running of themed guide walks.
