Silsden Toddler Play Area
Silsden lies 5 miles from the Yorwaste Skibeden landfill site at Skipton. The project for a new and challenging play area for toddlers and young children was developed by the Silsden Youth Council, supported by Bradford Parks and Landscape Services.
The old play area was worn and unexciting and the surfacing was unsafe and contaminated by litter and was subject of concern to parents of young children. A detailed consultation took place with schools, playgroups and parents to identify the types of equipment and surfacing which would be needed in a new play area.
The Yorventure grant of £35,000 paid for the new play equipment which included new swings, round-about (suitable for children with disabilities), climbing frame and slide, springers and balance bar. Safety surfacing was funded by Bradford City Council.
