Folkton and Flixton Play Area
Community ProjectIn January 2002, Folkton and Flixton Playing Fields Association were awarded a £15,000 Yorventure grant towards the provision of a new children’s play area, located within 5 miles of the Yorwaste landfill site at Seamer Carr.
The project involved purchasing a field from a local farmer on which to construct the new playground, preparing the land, erecting security fencing, laying down safety flooring and installing new play ground equipment.
The original play area was dangerously close to the cricket field and the play ground equipment was obsolete and unsafe.
The new play area is now enjoyed by many local families and children as well as by visitors who come to the area to play or spectate at the near by Folkton and Flixton Cricket Club.
