Yorventure

Providing landfill tax funding for local projects.

Case Studies

Yorventure has invested almost £8 million in more than 300 projects in York and North Yorkshire and now supports projects in Northern Bradford through tax credits received by Bradford Metropolitan District Council generated by the Yorwaste landfill site at Skipton.

Since Yorventure was first established in 1997, grants have been distributed to a variety of different community and environmental projects; here are just a few examples:

The Esk Pearl Mussel & Salmon Recovery Project
Project

Led by the North Yorkshire Moors National Park this project aimed to halt the decline of Freshwater Pearl Mussel and Salmon populations on the River Esk by improving the river habitat. This was to be achieved by encouraging actions on the ground to reduce sediment input into the River Esk by engaging local land owners.
