Case Studies
Yorventure has invested almost £9 million in more than 500 projects in York and North Yorkshire and now supports projects in Northern Bradford through tax credits received by Bradford Metropolitan District Council generated by the Yorwaste landfill site at Skipton.
Since Yorventure was first established in 1997, grants have been distributed to a variety of different community and environmental projects; here are just a few examples:
- Foxglove Covert Nature Reserve - £17,670
- Environmental Project
-
The Nature Reserve is located 5 miles from the Scorton Landfill site. The project has seen creation of an accessible path through the reserve together with way-marking and interpretation. The Reserve is managed under a lease agreement with the Secretary of Defence of Richmondshire District Council.

- Scarborough Gymnastics Academy - £9,500
- Community Project
-
The Academy lies two miles from the Seamer Carr Landfill Site. The grant paid for the installation of a sprung floor creating a large area for multiple activities to take place alongside each other. The existing matted area has been moved to another part of the gym to be utilised as a warm up/dance space. This allows the Club to accommodate more people in weekly sessions.

- Danby Beacon

In 2007 Yorventure was approached by the Danby Beacon Trust for funding for a new working beacon on the ancient site known as Danby Beacon. A marker had existed on the site since Napoleonic time, the last one of which fell down some ten years ago.
